I’ve been married to my sweetheart, Ryan, for fourteen years. And I’m pleased to report that our story is much happier than Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. :0) I adore my husband because he’s kindhearted, funny, smart, a hard worker, and a loving and engaging dad. Yep, I’m one lucky gal!!
Our six-year-old li’l bee, Hayden, brings loads of laughter to our home. I think he laughs more than anything else he does. He loves telling knock knock jokes; playing in dirt, sand, mud, rain puddles . . . well, anything messy; embarking on imaginary adventures with pirates, dinosaurs, ninjas, or whatever else is “cool” at that time; and playing with dogs. Oh, and I can’t forget our beloved Golden Retriever, Bogie. Loyal and loving. Need I say more?
I love collecting recipes, cooking, eating anything with coconut (especially combined with chocolate, yum!), watching nature documentaries with my little guy, WWII history and novels, playing board games with my family, afternoon naps when I can squeeze them in (a rare delight), and hiking and camping in the Rocky Mountains. And I have to agree with C.S. Lewis who said, “You can never get a cup of tea (or in my case, a cup of coffee) large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”
About BEEsy Mama
As a busy mama, I yearn to slow down to savor the sweet moments given to me each day. My heart’s desire is to nurture and grow my relationships with my family, friends, and loving God.
I’ve discovered that one of the best ways to slow down and connect with family and friends at a deeper level is to share meals together. Oh, I cherish memories from my childhood of mealtime with my family—of those precious moments when we’d laugh together, tell about the notable events of our day, and learn about each others dreams, fears, and desires.
When I was in high school, my family began a tradition of reading humorous stories after dinnertime. My dad loved reading Patrick McManus books, and so as we finished our meal, he’d hand me one of McManus’s books and point me to a story to read. More times that not, I couldn’t get through a story without bursting into a fit of laughter. In those moments, any worries we brought to the table fizzled away.
And I also remember as a child spending time with my mom in the kitchen baking cookies or helping with dinner. What warm and beautiful memories those are! It was a lighthearted time we spent together, enjoying each others company and deepening our relationship.
With my own family, I desire to carry on the tradition of spending at least one meal together as a family each day. So here at BEEsy Mama, you’ll see an assortment of recipes I make for my family. I love to cook, and for me it’s one of the ways I care for and express love to my family. And making homemade meals encourages my family to slow down and enjoy each others company.
In addition to recipes, I occasionally share devotionals and reflections on what God’s doing in my life. As part of my quest in slowing down, I desire to connect with God throughout my day by spending time reading the Bible, worshiping and praising Him, talking to him through prayer, and being still long enough to hear Him.
Here at BEEsy Mama, you’ll also find blog posts highlighting ways you can build faith in your kids, fun activities for your kids, and reviews on books.
It’s my hope that BEEsy Mama will encourage you to slow down and draw closer to those precious people in your life and to our Creator and loving God.
